Vice President Ma’ruf Amin inaugurated the groundbreaking of the Vice Presidential Palace construction at IKN Nusantara, East Kalimantan, on Monday.
“The construction of the Vice Presidential Palace at IKN is an important step in realizing a more advanced, prosperous, and just Indonesia,” he remarked.
According to Amin, the Vice Presidential Palace is expected to become one of the centers of state activities that reflect the values of nationality, integrity, and public service.
He emphasized that the palace must also be the axis of change and the birthplace of various important policies concerning Indonesians’ lives.
“The groundbreaking of this palace is part of the inauguration series for the seventh phase of investors’ projects at IKN,” Amin explained.
The vice president then outlined several messages for the palace’s construction.
First, construction must prioritize the principles of sustainability and environmental friendliness by ensuring that each stage of construction is conducted in keeping with environmentally friendly principles to minimize environmental damage and support energy efficiency.
Amin also underscored the need to involve the local community in development to improve the standard of living of the surrounding community while upholding local values and culture.
Second, development must be carried out with high quality and standards.
“Make sure the building is not only aesthetically pleasing but also sturdy and has sufficient security,” he remarked.
Third, the vice president urged related parties to focus on transparency and accountability in construction.
“I ask all stakeholders to maintain integrity and work with full responsibility. Ensure no deviation and misappropriation in this project,” Amin stated.
He then lauded the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry and all parties related to the planning and preparation processes for the construction of the Vice Presidential Palace.
Amin is upbeat about this project boosting local economic growth by increasing job and business opportunities, thereby ultimately improving the welfare of the surrounding community.
“Finally, the groundbreaking project for the Vice Presidential Palace at IKN started. May God bless all of our efforts,” Amin remarked.
Meanwhile, Director General of Cipta Karya of the PUPR Ministry, Diana Kusumastuti, stated that the Vice Presidential Palace was built on 14.8 hectares of land, with a total budget of Rp1.4 trillion (US$85 million).
Construction will start from stage one, including the palace building and the Vice President’s office, the Vice President’s residence, the Presidential Security Guard (Paspampres) dormitory, and other supporting buildings.
